Hi, I’m Damaris. I’m a journalist turned analyst, turned instructional designer. I love to read, write, teach, and learn.
I’m a proud member of the training team at dbt Labs.
I’m based in Fort Lauderdale, and most likely cycling up A1A right now. I solve thorny learning problems with the help of the South Florida sunshine and my trusty road bike.
After nearly 15 years in communications and marketing, I upskilled myself and became a Google Analytics Certified Professional. Over time, I became more fascinated with training, education, and online learning.
Web Analytics Trainer
I developed training and education materials to increase customer adoption of analytics platforms like Google Analytics 360, Google Cloud, and the Google Marketing Platform. I led professional development workshops for companies like Fitbit, Papa John’s and Broadcom, analyzing needs and client objectives to create comprehensive, instructional materials and customized, instructor-led workshops.
Instructional Designer
As an e-learning designer, I used multiple delivery modalities to leverage in-house content, create new content, and curate existing content for three, 10-week, online courses. I’ve collaborated with subject matter experts to create storyboards, audio/video scripts, job aids/infographics, scenarios, assignments, playbooks, and learning assessments using sound instructional theory.
Virtual Classroom Facilitator
As a virtual classroom facilitator, I served as an instructor and online learning course mentor for a 10-week digital marketing course. I facilitated live, weekly sessions delivered through 16 university partners. I improved learner engagement through purposeful facilitation using tools like Slack and Zoom. I ensured learning transfer by designing live activities, interactive playbooks, and breakout sessions.
Welcome to my virtual class.
Here I am teaching module six of a 10-week, 10 module digital marketing course. I developed the course, designed the learning experience, and taught two of the modules. I collaborated with several other digital marketing subject matter experts. This was a lot of work but it was a blast!
